It's a Marshmallow World.
What do you get when you take a fresh, rich and creamy marshmallow and dip it into rich chocolate? An old-fashioned, melt- in-your-mouth treat that has been one of New York's sweet traditions since 1939. That was the year Allen Schwartz opened the original Schwartz Candy Store on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Sixty years on, these confections are still the hallmark of Schwartz "Out of this World" Chocolates. They’re perfect as an après-dinner treat, or for tossing into a cup of French Roast or a mug of hot cocoa.

In the early days, his airy confections were dipped one at a time by skilled women with very nimble fingers. A hand-dipper poured a puddle of warm, tempered chocolate on a marble slab. With scrubbed-clean hands, a worker tossed a "naked" marshmallow into a puddle. Then, in one swift motion, she covered the candy with her "chocolate" hand, put a symbol on its top with her thumb, and placed it neatly on dipping paper. Today, while still handcrafted in small batches, a chocolate enrober creates a chocolate curtain and a chocolate "bath," which spectacularly coats each bright, fluffy artisan marshmallow with a thin, intensely-flavored chocolate.
