Navigate the Culinary City with a New York Cabbie.
Where can you find the best bagel, bialy, burrito, hamburger, hot dog, huerta, cheesecake, cannoli, and cookies in the Big Apple? The answers are in this amazing tour of the greatest food treasures in New York City's dazzling bakeries, butchers, fish markets, produce stands, cheese shops, gourmet groceries, and sandwich carts.

A lifelong nosher with an insatiable taste for adventure, "Famous Fat Dave" Freedenberg has turned his quirky passion into a uniquely New York experience. Come hungry and he will take up to 4 passengers on a 4-hour private excursion to Guss's on the Lower East Side for the world's best pickles; to Murray’s Cheese of Bleeker Street for samples of heavenly cheese; to Nathan’s Hot Dogs for dogs on the Coney Island boardwalk; to Orwashers Bakery on the Upper East Side for world-famous Black Russian Rye; to Fratelli Café in the Bronx for ultra-fresh broccoli rabe; to San Hai Jin Mi in Flushing for beef bulgogi Korean bbq; to Manna’s Soul Food for Harlem’s best deviled eggs and mac-n-cheese; to New Park Pizza for a slice of heaven on Howard Beach; to Pastrami Queen for the last great deli sandwich in Manhattan; to Arthur Avenue Retail Market in the Bronx to taste fresh mozzarella while it is still hot; to Euro Café on the border between Brooklyn and Queens for hand-piped cannoli and espresso. It's an unabashed eating tour guided by Dave's recommendations and your own favorite foods. Best of all, he will escort you and your companions in the comfort of his New York City Yellow Cab.

All tastings and transportation are included, along with Dave's tales from a life of delicious excess and stories of New York's colorful, hard-working food heroes. From the gourmet to the everyday, the comprehensive, fun-filled tour will delight both the seasoned and the seasonal New Yorker.

About David Freedenberg
Growing up in Maryland, Dave's love of food began with cones of Thrasher’s french fries doused in malt vinegar and bushels of blue crabs steamed with Old Bay seasoning. After graduating from New York University he landed a number of dream jobs deep inside New York’s food world. He drove a bread truck for Orwasher’s Bakery, delivering Black Russian Ryes and Challahs to the likes of Tavern on the Green, the Russian Tea Room, and the World Trade Center. He prowled a stretch of Orchard Street sidewalk behind an aromatic row of 500 pound barrels as a pickle man at Guss's Pickles. He translated his pickle skills into the cheese world as a sample-happy cheesemonger at Murray’s Cheese Shop. And he sold Nathan’s hot dogs as a bellowing vendor in the stands at the minor league Brooklyn Cyclones ball park. Dave has followed his belly across five continents, and worked as a freelance food writer for Time Out New York, the Not For Tourists Guidebook, Attaché (the in-flight magazine for US Airways), and L Magazine. Dave moonlights as a New York Yellow Cab driver as he continues to explore the city’s hidden food treasures.
