Body Art is a form of communication that is as old as the human race itself, and cultures around the world have used tattoos for religious, social and spiritual reasons. History shows that kings, emperors and czars sported tattoos, as did several American presidents. Author Jack London wrote, "Show me a man with a tattoo and I'll show you a man with an interesting past."
Tattoos are seen as symbols of style, fashion and freedom. They beautify the body, rejuvenate the spirit, and celebrate the joys of creativity and self-expression. Tattooing has reached its own level of individuality, with people of all ages and from all walks of life finding their own special meaning in personalized tattoos.
The tattoo experience begins with a private consultation with celebrity tattoo artist Michelle Myles, who will create a unique tattoo to your exact specifications and desires. You may bring a drawing or something to give the artist an idea of what you want or find inspiration in the artist's reference library. The best tattoos are done when artist and client work together to find a design that has meaning and that is placed in a location of the body that shows it to its best advantage.
Your tattoo, much like your permanent record, is what you make of it. It may be a remnant of your wild past or a precursor to your wild future, but at the very least it is indicative of your wild nature.
You will admire Michelle's skill as she fashions the work of art upon your skin, then, at then end of the up-to-3-hour session, she will provide clear aftercare instructions and products. In addition, she will enhance and sign the original artwork as a keepsake painting.
She quells any doubts about whether tattooing is an art. Born in St. Louis, Michelle moved to New York to attend Parsons School of Design, where she earned a degree in fine arts, then practiced the art of tattooing underground from 1991 to 1997 when it was still illegal in the city. As co-owner of Fun City Tattoo on St. Mark's Place and Daredevil Tattoo, an East Village mecca for tattoo celebrities and tattooed celebrities alike, she has earned an international reputation for bold, impeccable custom work. She has had several celebrity icons under her needle, including Joan Jett, Whoopi Goldberg, and Boy George.
