Fitness training is a challenge of both mind and body, and it takes courage and commitment to break through initial barriers to make it a routine part of your life. The good news is that you can change your life with the help of the right personal trainer.
During this unique "shadowing" experience, Mike Monroe, internationally known fitness guru and former leader of a Marine Force Special Reconnaissance Unit, is on a mission is to help the client transform his/her general fitness and lifestyle objectives into specific, measurable, attainable goals. In developing a personal profile, Mike gets up close and personal to assess the client's lifestyle and the affect it has on his/her overall wellbeing. This approach, throughout 6 hours of a typical day, translates into individualized, user-friendly programs that change the way each client thinks and feels about fitness and wellness in the long run.
By focusing more on identifying personal barriers (diet, exercise, time management, personal growth), Mike designs a strategy for adhering to a wide variety of fitness routines and programs. You will be briefed on -- and be expected to implement -- basic nutrition information for lifestyle, performance and appearance improvement. The process includes developing healthy habits, learning ways to make exercise more fun and efficient, and establishing a plan that will fit your schedule and allow you to sustain your health for the long term.
Whether you have specific athletic performance needs, or just want to feel energetic and healthy throughout each day, Mike will work with you to develop a plan for your success, emphasizing lifestyle changes that are realistic and permanent. He is an advocate of functional fitness, meaning the development of strength and cardiovascular endurance for a broad range of everyday and activity-specific pursuits. Expect to feel positive changes in your energy level, self-confidence, and fitness performance.
The program is suitable for beginners through experienced athletes, mature adolescents through seniors in good health, and currently able to demonstrate bare minimum strength and endurance on an initial fitness assessment.
His clients range from complete novices to professional athletes and from celebrities to socialites. His customized programs range from basic weight loss and general conditioning to injury rehab, pre-and post-natal exercise, as well as training for events such as triathlons, marathons, and cycling events. Mike is a certified Personal Trainer (NASM) as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA). He is an avid triathlete and endurance sport competitor, having completed five Iron Man triathlons, as well as the Marathon Des Sables, a 150-mile run through the Western Sahara (known as the "Toughest Footrace in the World"). Mike is a US Naval Academy graduate who served twelve years as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps, participating in combat operations in the Persian Gulf and Somalia. He served as a leader of a Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance Unit (Special Ops) and as an exchange officer with the elite British Commandos.
