New York is the heart of America's stand-up comedy scene, and, located in vibrant Times Square, The Broadway Comedy Club is dedicated to promoting and showcasing rising stars and new comic talent. This unique experience, a one-on-one, full-day workshop culminates in an on-stage appearance where you will showcase your comedy talent in a 5-minute performance.
To begin the day, you will join NYC comedian and comedy producer Aaron Haber for lunch at the world famous New York Friars Club, 57 Friars Way (East 55th Street) in a building it calls the Monastery. There Aaron will begin the process by suggesting a comedy "persona" or character based on his impressions of you. After noshing in the same room that has hosted Groucho, George Burns, Billy Crystal and every famous comedian for the last 100 years, you'll head over to the Broadway Comedy Club for "boot camp."
Aaron will teach you everything from the correct way to hold the mic to how to deal with a pesky heckler. He will help you turn your funny ideas and stories into stand-up comedy material and teach you what mistakes to avoid. He will sharpen your jokes, delivery skills, and the timing on all of your punchlines. You will be well-rehearsed and ready to hit the stage for a live performance alongside comedians who have appeared on Comedy Central, Letterman, The Tonight Show, and more.
You don't need to have written or performed before. All you need is a sense of humor and the desire to make people laugh. You are encouraged to invite friends and family to join the club's audience.
After the show you are invited to join the cast of comedians for drinks at the bar for a late-night bull session. Hanging out until 3 AM is strictly optional, but encouraged for professional courtesy's sake
He has been performing stand-up and improv comedy in Chicago and New York City for 15 years. After graduating from Chicago's Second City, Aaron was mentored by improv comedy guru Del Close, trainer of John Belushi, Mike Meyers and Chris Farley. As a comedian, Aaron has appeared on Comedy Central and National Lampoon and performs Stand-Up comedy nightly. As a comedy teacher Aaron has trained and mentored scores of Chicago improvisers and New York City stand-up comedians. As a comedy producer, he books nightly shows at The Broadway Comedy Club as well as the world-famous New York Friars Club. Aaron is a member in good standing of the Friars Club.
