For lovers of "La Dolce Vita," we have created an unforgettable experience in one of New York's most utterly romantic destinations, setting for the motion picture "Serendipity" starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. A VIP reservation will be made for you at Serendipity 3, the luxury ice cream parlor that has catered to the rich and famous for over half a century. Upon your arrival, you will be received like royalty, nestled into the snug nook, and seated at Marilyn Monroe's table, where the screen goddess once satisfied her sweet tooth cravings (sometimes dressed in nothing but a trenchcoat!). Attentive waiters will create a scene right out of "How to Marry a Millionaire" with the delivery of the "World's Most Expensive Sundae," Serendipity's incredible Golden Opulence Sundae, a dessert big enough for sharing with someone you love. It's truly a taste of the good life!
Serendipity is the only one place on earth where you can indulge in a dessert made up of the best of the best. Made with five scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla and covered in 23K edible gold leaf, the sundae is drizzled with the world's most expensive chocolate, Amedei Porceleana, and covered with chunks of rare Chuao chocolate, which is from cocoa beans harvested by the Caribbean Sea on Venezuela's coast. The masterpiece is suffused with exotic candied fruits from Paris, gold dragets, truffles and Marzipan Cherries. It is topped with a tiny glass bowl of Grand Passion Caviar, an exclusive dessert caviar, made of salt-free American Golden caviar, known for its sparkling golden color. It's sweetened and infused with fresh passion fruit, orange and Armagnac. The exquisite sundae is graciously served in a Baccarat Harcourt Crystal goblet, topped with a gilded sugar flower by Ron Ben-Israel and accompanied by 18K gold spoons. The beautiful goblet is yours to keep as a memoir of the experience.
The restaurant's history is as rich as its desserts. Founded in 1954, Serendipity was one of the first restaurants in the country to turn dining into a theatrical experience, to create an ambiance as fun as the food that was served. Located near Bloomingdale's in one of New York's toniest East Side neighborhoods, Serendipity fills two floors of a historic townhouse. Decked out with original Tiffany lamps, black-and-white floors, fabulous Victorian oversized posters, and idiosyncratic adornments such as a huge clock and metal horse, the restaurant takes you down the rabbit hole into a fairytale world. Over the years Serendipity 3 has built a loyal following and a constellation of stars including Andy Warhol, Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, The Dutchess of Windsor, Catherine Deneuve, Cher, Diana Ross, Prince, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Mary Tyler Moore, Courtney Love, and Meg Ryan. Sylvester Stallone was turned down for a waiter position because his astrological sign didn't meet the owners' approval. Jackie Kennedy visited Serendipity for the first time when she was a senator's wife and became a lifelong customer. JFK Jr. used to arrive here on rollerblades to meet then-girlfriend Darryl Hannah, and Cindy Crawford came to Serendipity on a date with an eleven-year-old boy (his father had won the honor at a charity event). Countless couples have gotten engaged at Serendipity, and grooms-to-be have requested hidden diamond rings in just about every dessert on the menu.
