Lithe skaters seem to effortlessly glide over the rinks while maintaining their poise, a marriage of art and athletics on ice. Skating can be a relaxing and an enjoyable pastime for young and old alike. It is freedom. It is exciting. It is an enjoyable way to get fit and have a lot of fun as well. Anyone at any age can enjoy figure skating. The benefits of ice skating are endless. Learning to ice skate with the proper basic instruction will provide you with a sporting activity that will be a part of you forever. Ice skating is a magical world.
She has been a successful competitive figure skater in both the Ice Skating Institute and the United States Figure Skating Association programs for many years. Taela now devotes her time to coaching, exhibitions, and a successful career in dance and musical theater. Currently appearing in New York with Naganuma Dance, she can also be found figure skating with the Ice Theater of New York, an organization dedicated to ice skating as a performing art. Taela has performed at several venues, including Rockefeller Center, the White Wave dance festival, and the Merce Cunningham studio. Her musical theater credits include Atlanta's Theater of the Stars production of Dreamgirls, starring Jennifer Holliday and Cindy Herron of En Vogue, and Florida Repertory Theater's A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Taela received standing ovations from teary-eyed audiences attending her prize-winning premiere as a choreographer at Amherst College, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Theater & Dance. Taela continues to develop as an artist and dancer on the stage and on ice.
