Yoga can unlock your personal energy, teach you to listen to your body and help you find your inner wisdom. Offer the gift of physical and spiritual well-being and open a doorway into a new experience with this private and personalized, one-on one session with Yogini Zara. Her encouragement and motivating nature will inspire you to use yoga to enhance health, joy and delight in your life.
After an initial consultation to assess the client and maximize benefits of the session, your instructor will guide you step by step from warm up through a series of exercises, custom designed for your experience level (from first timers to experienced practitioners), lifestyle, and personal history. The session ends with cooling stretches and a deep meditative relaxation.
Zara teaches at the appropriate level and in language that is easily understood. Depending on the client's needs/desires, the session will variously combine a challenging physical practice, calming meditation, and therapeutic stretching. The influence of Zara's study of African and Afro-Caribbean dance provides an extra fun element to the mix, allowing the client to tap into that inner child, to let go and relax. More extensive meditation and chanting practices can be worked into the session as desired.
The 90-minute session is accompanied by a custom playlist (the CD is yours to keep) plus insightful knowledge and discussion of both the physical and spiritual sides of the ancient practice of Yoga.
An avid practitioner and teacher of yoga for much of her adult life, Zara began her studies with intensive courses in Ashtanga (series of vigorous postures linked together by careful attention to the breath) moving on to regular study of the Jivamukti method (use of Ashtanga postures in varying sequence set to inspirational music). More recently she has begun to explore the cosmic connections between yoga and rhythm through courses in African and Afro-Carribean dance. For the last three years, she has become deeply immersed in Buddhist meditation techniques, both on an intellectual and practical level, and maintains a daily practice of meditating for an hour or more. Zara believes that her teaching practice is the natural culmination of her lifelong exploration of humanity, and the mind-body phenomenon that makes us special. She has learned to speak Spanish, spent several years living in Spain, Russia, Japan, Ghana and Costa Rica and has acquired extensive knowledge of astrology, universal mythology and the mystical practices of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. She has traveled throughout large parts of Europe, West Africa, Latin America, and Asia, including A six-month stay in India studying Yogic philosophy, Ayurveda (Indian natural medicine) and Tibetan Buddhism, all the while solidifying her core belief that we are each a distinct expression of a common divinity.
