more than a century. The orthpedic-firm support structure has a sinuous spring suspension (hand-tied, 11-gauge tempered steel springs that run across the seat of the chair), unitized by insulated wire along with a fill of high-density polyurethane foam for years of sag-free seating. The chair's back is also foam-filled over a super-reinforced spring foundation.

This very same chair is still produced one at a time at the original Gunlocke workshop, according to the exact historic specifications of JFK's chair: the interior frame of solid maple is double-doweled, corner-blocked, glued and screwed for extra strength. All frame components are made of high-density maple which strongly grips upholster tacks, preventing them from loosening. Includes a 360-degree swivel base and manual lift that raises the chair from 45 to 47-1/2" high. The standard model is finished with soft, top-grain leather upholstery, and while Presidents preferred black natural leather for their chairs, you may choose from 10 colors.

Lavalina-Edition Oval Office Chair.
This exclusive, limited edition model (in “Tuxedo Black”) is upholstered in the same leather used exclusively for Rolls-Royce automobile interiors. In a special arrangement with Gunlocke, German tannery Hewa-Leder has supplied trademarked "Lavalina" high-performance, full-grain, aniline leather. Starting with raw material sourced in Bavaria, the meticulously-finished leather breathes more easily and is prized for its soft, natural feel. In addition, a special process in the tanning provides improved resistance to color fading and maximum wear capability. The fusion of Gunlocke and Rolls-Royce has resulted in a luxurious executive chair.
