On the Sidewalks of New York.
One cold April day, Polo Grounds concessionaire Harry Stevens (his company is still in business) was losing money with ice cream and ice cold soda. He sent his salemen out to buy up all the dachshund sausages they could find, and an equal number of rolls. In less than an hour his vendors were hawking sausages from portable hot water tanks with "They're red hot! Get your dachshund sausages while they're red hot!" In the press box, sports cartoonist Tad Dorgan was nearing his deadline and desperate for an idea. Hearing the vendors, he hastily drew a cartoon of barking dachschund sausages nestled warmly in rolls. Not sure how to spell "dachshund" he simply wrote "hot dog!" The cartoon was a sensation--and the name "hot dog" was born.

In 1936, Oscar Mayer rolled out the first portable Hot Dog Cart. They called it the Wienermobile and the rest, as they say, is history.

The Worksman Professional Hot Dog Cart has one 14-quart pan that holds 50 hot dogs or 20 rolls (or combination thereof), two 1¼-quart condiment pans and a 1¼-quart mustard pot with wand applicator. A spacious steam table heated by standard buffet burners (burners not included) holds the three pans for heating contents. Special hinges on the steam table lid hold the lid open, freeing up hands to assemble the perfect hot dog. When finished, the lid may be closed easily and securely to keep contents fresh and warm. Two 6-inch wings (one on either side of the steam table) act as serving shelves. Two 20-inch flat-proof semi-pneumatic tires and an 20-inch, rotating front tire ensure easy movement, while overhead a detachable umbrella pops open to shade servers and patrons alike. Sliding display doors on the top storage cabinet hold rolls and other foods utensils and other foods until ready for preparation. Stainless-steel construction resists rust, dents and scratches to provide a lifetime of use. Suitable indoors or outdoors. All pans are removable for easy cleaning and set up. Surfaces wipe clean with a cloth, mild detergent and water. 43" H x 25½" W x 36" L. (160lbs.)
