Ceramic New York Coffee Cups (Graham Hill, 2003) (Set of 2)$29.00
Founded in 1929, New York City's world-renowned Museum of Modern Art is home to many of the most important and best-known works of art created over the past century, including an homage to New York's iconic coffee cup. Environmentally minded design group, Exceptionlab, worked with both the Sweetheart Cup Company and Aid to Artisans to convert the design from disposable to permanent, from paper to ceramic.
Over nearly half a century, New York has made the coffee-to-go cup with the customer-friendly WE ARE HAPPY TO SERVE YOU part of its culture. Still so identified with New York, the iconic cups have become standard-issue props on TV shows and motion pictures set in the city. Although there have been many copycats, the original NY Coffee Cup design is both genuinely unique and almost timeless. So it's no wonder someone turned the enduring icon from disposable to permanent, from paper to infinitely-reusable ceramic, and it's not surprising that it's been immortalized at New York's Museum of Modern Art. Crafted in durable lead-free earthenware, the 10-ounce cups are microwave and dishwasher safe. Witty remake of an unforgettable original. Offered in sets of two.
