Bar Stool Philosophy. |
As New York restaurateur Keith McNally’s Soho masterpiece, Balthazar is an evocation of a Paris brasserie with strains of Edith Piaf in the background. A key part to the enjoyment of coming here is the restaurant's décor, which is as authentically French as a pack of Gauloises.
Red leather banquettes, retro ceiling and lighting, big brass mirrors, and a bustling bar area set the Balthazar scene. The mahogany benches and leather stools surrounding the zinc bar fill up early, while immaculately clad bartenders grant you and your cocktails the utmost care.
Offered for sale is the retro brasserie's signature stool, a clubby, wine-colored, padded-vinyl cushion with brass nailheads astride a durable mahogany frame, befitting Balthazar’s place in the firmament of New York City restaurants.
