Civilization in a Glass. |
Harry Cipriani, located at 59th Street and Fifth Avenue, is almost an exact duplicate of the original Harry's Bar in Venice, opened by Giuseppe Cipriani in 1931, and whose regulars have included Ernest Hemingway, Truman Capote, Maria Callas, Orson Welles, and Aristotle Onassis.
Harry Cipriani offers the classic Harry's Bar menu of unique Cipriani specialties, including a legendary drink called the Bellini, named after the fifteenth-century Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini, invented by the founder of Harry's Bar, Mr. Cipriani himself, revered as an Italian lifeline to civilization.
Components are fairly simple, but when combined, they make an intricate, stylish drink. White peach juice, lightly carbonated - perfect with champagne, prosecco, vodka or on its own as a refreshing drink, best served over ice. (Very young drinkers are served baby Bellinis, in which the peach juice used to make a grown-up Bellini is mixed with soda water instead of sparkling wine). Proper proportions call for one-third fresh peach juice and two-thirds chilled sparkling wine (make sure to pour the peach juice into the glass first).
What Do You Take to a Cocktail Party?
Offered is the original Cipriani Bellini Base from the cocktail's place of origin. The mix (a carbonated peach soft drink) arrives in an elegant cylindrical box with 3 tins (each tin contains 8.45-ounces, making 3 cocktails), including original recipes from Harry's Bar. Perfect dinner or cocktail party gift.

The Espresso of Harry's Bar in Venice.
In Venice, coffee has always been considered a token of love and friendship. Venetian lovers send chocolates and coffee to their beloved ones as proof of their love and affection. Ending a delicious meal with Venetian espresso at Cipriani is happy and romantic tradition. This fine blend of Arabica beans were chosen from Central America and Ethiopia for its sweet, soft and well-balanced taste and for the low caffeine content of high quality coffees. Offering a 250-gram (8.8-ounce) tin of ground beans.

Dinner in Venice.
Flavors of Italy dance in the mouth and sing in the heart with a gift box of three 12-ounce sauces from the Cipriani chefs. Bizantina Sauce is spicy with the addition of green olives, capers and some anchovy to fresh tomato. It tastes intense and delicate at the same time. Perfectly suits pasta as well as fish-based dishes. Bizantina sauce is perfect with red snapper fillets (at Harry's they are called "Sampietro alla Carlina"). Pomod'oro Sauce is based on ripened Cirio tomatoes, sieved without adding anything else. Add extra virgin olive oil and salt to enjoy a simple but savory tomato sauce. (An excellent base for other delightful sauces). Sansovina Sauce is based on fresh tomatoes and basil. The basic ingredients are five: tomato, basil, oil, onion and salt. After a brief heating, the sauce is ready to be consumed.
