Knowledge of self defense is enabling; it is knowing one's limitations so that one can act appropriately in a given situation.
Learning to defend yourself in the big city is serious business. Working one-on-one with New York City self-defense instructor Jennifer Cassetta, you will work on street-smart techniques, combinations and movement, including basic knife defense, basic strikes (hands and feet), basic stick strikes, defense against grabs and chokes, and how to use everyday items as weapons (i.e. cellphones, umbrellas). Jennifer doesn't sugarcoat her lessons. She teaches how to assess danger and increase awareness, self-confidence and safety.
This private lesson is a way to build confidence and reduce fear. Spending 2 hours with your instructor in a private lesson will help you learn without the self-consciousness that comes with being in a group. The lesson will allow you to learn at your own pace in a non-threatening, controlled environment at the World Martial Arts Center Studio (14th Street at Sixth Avenue). The private lesson is an important option for busy professionals whose busy or diverse schedules sometimes prevent them from attending regular classes on a set schedule. Once you learn self-defense with personal instruction, your self confidence will grow.
About Jennifer Cassetta
Senior instructor of the World Pro HapKiDo Federation and founder of Health and the City, Jennifer has been training in HapKiDo for over ten years under one of the country's top HapKiDo instructors, Sabumnim David Herbert. HapKiDo is a martial art that specializes in self defense techniques and is taught to Korean special forces and U.S. military as well. Jennifer is also a certified personal trainer and nutritionist and has a private practice based in NYC and Los Angeles.
