Alfred Hitchcock was a witty raconteur and inveterate Martini drinker who believed that each and every scene in his films should be a “privileged moment." He spent weeks agonizing over Tippi Hedren's precise image for THE BIRDS, as he had for all his icy blondes, but one thing he didn't spend much time thinking about was which type of Martini glass she would be holding so elegantly.

Hitch used glasses from the Ritz Bar in London, a Finnish neo-modernist design that would look right in her hand. The glass celebrates the retro silhouette, stylish and spill-proof. It sits on a rounded base of solid glass, giving the illusion of tippiness and instability, even though it's quite sturdy and stable.

Camille Paglia, Professor of Humanities at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and author of several acclaimed books about women, writes, "I love the way Hedren handles cigarettes and a Martini glass with such remarkable sophistication. It is gesturalism raised to the level of choreography."

The Hitchcock "Tippi" Martini Glass is offered in a Gift Box Set of 4.
